In April, our first ‘Naturcrèche’ (Nature child care center) in Schouweiler, a joint venture between the Luxembourg Red Cross and the municipality of Dippach, opened its doors. This facility represents a major step forward in childcare, combining modern teaching methods with an education close to nature.
There are currently 44 children in the ‘Naturcrèche’. The educational approach is based on nature education and the Emmi Pikler concept. This gives children aged between 18 months and 4 years the opportunity to develop freely in an environment close to nature, and to discover the animal and plant world. Thanks to the changing seasons and different weather conditions, children experience a constantly evolving environment.
‘This provides special stimulation for the children’s emotional, social, motor and linguistic development,’ explains the establishment’s director, social educator Stéphanie Tavares.
A committed team of six Red Cross employees lovingly look after the children. Priority is given to children from the municipality, but children from other municipalities are also welcome. The meals at the ‘Naturcrèche’ are delivered fresh daily by Maison Relais Dippach (from CR-Services).
