24 February 2025
Since 24 February 2022, the people of Ukraine have been living through armed conflict. More than 10 million people have had to leave their homes and flee the fighting. Some have stayed in the country, while others have taken refuge abroad.
The teams of the Luxembourg Red Cross have been present in the country for many years, working tirelessly to relieve the direct and indirect victims of the conflict and carrying out numerous projects in collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.
It is focusing much of its efforts on rebuilding and rehabilitating damaged health facilities. By repairing windows and financing the purchase of new equipment, it enables all health professionals to continue to treat the sick and injured.
From 27 March to 9 April 2024, a team from the Luxembourg Red Cross made a field visit to Ukraine. One of its members is not a humanitarian by profession, and we would like to share with you his impressions and memories gathered on the spot, a few months after his return.
