Friendship Luxembourg handed over 1500 masks made in Bangladesh to the beneficiaries of the Luxembourg Red Cross “Butteker ” (social grocery stores).
For every mask sold, for the price of 4 €, in its pop-up store (open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and located at 43 Grand-Rue in Luxembourg-City), Friendship Luxembourg will donate one mask to a vulnerable person in Luxembourg via the Red Cross “Butteker” network, and one mask to a vulnerable person in Bangladesh.
There is a very strong sense of solidarity and generosity which is part of the cultural heritage of Bengal. When crises occur – and Bangladeshis frequently have to face crises and disasters – it is important to have people who are active in helping others. And it is good to see, here in Luxembourg, that this feeling of solidarity and generosity knows no borders.
Runa Khan, founder and executive director of Friendship Luxembourg
Luc Scheer, member of the board of directors of the Luxembourg Red Cross, warmly thanked Friendship Luxembourg: “The health crisis we are going through is global. Through this operation, Friendship Luxembourg supports its programmes in Bangladesh while showing solidarity in Luxembourg. Thanks to this operation, the beneficiaries of the Red Cross “Butteker” will have free masks at their disposal.“
Thanks to the success of this operation with both individuals and companies, some additional 3,500 masks will be donated at the beginning of the school year in September.
