The countdown is on: this Saturday and Sunday, the Bazar On Tour 2021, organised by the Luxembourg City local section, will take place at the Glacis and rue d’Eich. Looking for unusual gifts? Want to indulge in everything our convivial Food Village has to offer? interested in meeting the volunteers and professionals of the Red Cross who work for the benefit of young people? All of this is possible at the Bazar am Zelt.
With only a few hours before doors open, the volunteers are busy putting the finishing touches to the various stands. At the Glacis, the Bazar am Zelt will offer a selection of handicrafts and design items (jewellery, small furniture, household items, children’s toys, etc.) and a wide range of delicacies (salmon, cheese, home-made jams, and sweets, etc.). Antique lovers can head to the Brocante Coup de cœur, rue d’Eich, to be sure to find what they are looking for.
The Glacis is bustling like never before, and Manou Hoss, president of the local section of Luxembourg City, explains why: “These two days are the result of an exceptional commitment on the part of many volunteers who organise the Bazar with the help of the Red Cross teams. It’s about a venue, which is ephemeral and particularly welcoming, and also about collaboration with the different Red Cross services, who will present their work in a very interesting way, by coming to meet the public. With the Bazar now in sight, our teams are now on the home strait.”
The twelve months of effort will come to fruition this weekend. For Manou Hoss, “we’re in for two very intense and rhythmic days. On Saturday, there will be round tables presenting the work of the Red Cross around the world. And on Sunday, we will blow out the candles on a cake to celebrate the 75th edition of the Bazar, with the visitors and the personalities who will be present.”
There’ll be special guest who will definitely not be missing, Saint Nicholas – Kleeschen to his friends – who of course will be at the Bazar am Zelt on Sunday at 3pm… Every year, he honours the event with his presence: “It’s logical: as everyone knows, young people are particularly close to my heart. And the Red Cross Bazar is a great Luxembourgish tradition of conviviality and solidarity that I would not miss for anything in the world.
