HARIKO, a space renowned for exchange, sharing and creation between artists and young people of the Luxembourg Red Cross, hosts since the beginning of June the association INANA for one month for an artists’ residency, within the framework of Esch 2022, European capital of culture.
On 19 June from 3.30pm , the Luxembourg Red Cross invites you to discover the works of art created during this residency, inside the “Bâtiment IV”. “We are open to everyone; families and young people, the more the merrier”, says Anne Braun, HARIKO’s director. Concerts, and jam sessions, as well as performances will punctuate the event.
The artists will be present to talk about their rich learning experiences. “During this residency we have used art to create ties between young and experienced artists. There is no hierarchy,” explains Samia Lyamouri, co-founder of the INANA association. “Half of the artists are refugees of various nationalities. Art allows them to express their stories in a powerful way.” The residency, which brought together 16 artists of 14 different nationalities during the month of June, allowed the artists to work collaboratively around the theme of integration.
“For me, this residency was a unique opportunity to learn from more experienced artists”, says Maria, 24 years old, who arrived in Luxembourg in 2020. “I have found a lot of hope and inspiration”.
Ahead of the World Refugee Day, the opening of the “Integr’Art” exhibition, which will bring together the works created during this INANA residency, will be an opportunity to exchange with artists from all over the world, in a festive setting. The exhibition will continue until 16 July.
