Thanks to the generosity of the Luxembourgish population and after having immediately released 150,000 euros for the victims of the armed conflict in Ukraine last week, on 2 March an additional 200,000 euros were sent to help the Ukrainian Red Cross to save lives.
For example, on Friday 4 March, our teams were able to deliver baby food and other materials to the hospital in Toretsk, about 40 km from Donetsk.
“This allows us to continue food distributions, first aid, protection and evacuation of children, their mothers and people with disabilities. We have also been able to buy medical equipment for two hospitals in the Donetsk region, where Luxembourg Red Cross teams are active, and to organise the evacuation of injured people in the area”
explains Rémi Fabbri, Director of Humanitarian Aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross
The victims of the conflict are in need of urgent humanitarian aid. There are many needs: medical supplies, food, money, drinking water, hygiene articles, warm clothes, or blankets.
“We are helping the Ukrainian population who are living in a dramatic situation, wherever the need is felt: families stuck in Ukraine, displaced persons at the borders and in Luxembourg,”
says Rémi Fabbri, Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

In order to ensure efficient aid logistics in the conflict zone, members of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent movement are maintaining a centralised inventory of needs in Ukraine and neighbouring countries and work with standardised specifications. For this reason, we are not calling for in-kind donations
