26 September 2024
The new Maison Relais building in Reckange/Mess was officially opened on 24 September. The Minister of Education Claude Meisch, the Mayor Carlo Muller and the Luxembourg artists Daniel Mac Lloyd and Théid Johanns were present at this special event.
In this modern facility, 240 children are currently cared for by our committed team of 19 Red Cross professionals, who focus on the individual needs of the children. Built with an investment of around €15.8 million, the Maison Relais provides a safe, supportive and homely environment in which children can flourish and gain valuable experiences.
Highlights of the new premises include a superb theatre stage, a multi-purpose motor room and ample space to feel good, learn and play. Our approach to encouraging children’s holistic development is reflected in all areas of this Maison Relais.
Théid Johanns’ creative art project, which he created with the local children, extends colourfully throughout the stairwell. With fascinating motifs around the themes of the earth, the sea and the universe, the paintings bring not only colour but also a welcoming atmosphere to the facility.
The multi-coloured electric box in the courtyard, designed by graffiti artist Daniel Mac Lloyd, adds a further creative touch to its urban flair.
A big thank you to everyone who supported this project, especially the local council and the two artists involved!
