Last week, our humanitarian team sent 44.36 tonnes of supplies to support our Ukrainian Red Cross colleagues. Amongst the materials delivered were 6024 hygiene kits that will help improve the daily lives of people affected by the conflict in the country, while 8300 nappies and orthopaedic equipment such as wheelchairs, shoulder slings and orthotics will be used to provide further support to the injured and sick.
At the same time, in Moldova, our team signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Moldovan Red Cross. “In concrete terms, this MoU structures our support to the Moldovan Red Cross,” explains Myriam Jacoby, in charge of Ukraine for the Luxembourg Red Cross. “It allows us to send hygiene kits, food and other material donations to the country to help people fleeing the conflict”. Her teams also plan to support the Moldovan Red Cross by carrying out necessary repairs to reception centres, some of which are used as temporary accommodation, or to distribution points.
