Mrs Steffes celebrated her 100th birthday in CIPA Junglinster

12 August 2020

On 21 July 2020, Joséphine Steffes-Conrad, a resident of CIPA Junglinster, celebrated her 100th Birthday.

The Minister for Family Affairs and Integration, Corinne Cahen, and the Mayor of Berdorf, Joé Nilles, attended the ceremony, in addition to the relatives of Mrs Steffes and the managers of the CIPA. In their speeches, they spoke of the eventful life of Mrs. Steffes, born on July 21, 1920, in Bollendorf-Bréck.

During her childhood, the girl helped her parents a lot, in the fields or at home. The Second World War broke out when she was 19 years old. During the war, she moved to Neudorf with her family, where she endured harsh winters. At the end of the war, she married her fiancé Alfred and gave birth to two daughters.

She worked in a café for a long time and did not leave her home until 1998, when she joined the CIPA in Junglinster. Until now, she continues to walk actively through the CIPA corridors with her walker.
