04 December 2020
December is a special month, as St. Nicholas’ Day, Christmas and New Year’s Eve make us think more than ever of our children, family and friends. In this period of sharing that is still festive, but overshadowed by COVID-19, it is important to extend this circle of solidarity to the most vulnerable.
The Luxembourg Red Cross has put together a donations catalogue, the aim of which is both to raise awareness of the concrete needs of vulnerable people and to provide information on the actions undertaken every day in Luxembourg and abroad.
This catalogue, which you have certainly received in your mailbox, presents around twenty examples of products financed by donations to beneficiaries and gives everyone the opportunity to make a donation to support them.
For example, a donation of 60 euros provides a basic food package to a young person between 18 and 26 years old living in the “Perspectives” housing scheme. A donation of 49 euros allows a family of four people to shop at our social grocery shops (“Butteker”) for a whole week.
This year the catalogue also has a digital section. The dedicated platform on the Luxembourg Red Cross’ website allows you to donate directly to the cause of choice online.
Throughout the year, the Luxembourg Red Cross supports vulnerable households through various initiatives. They devote their resources almost exclusively to housing, food and clothing. This situation is further exacerbated by the health crisis. These support initiatives are very often only made possible through the generosity of donors.
At the end of this year, the Luxembourg Red Cross would like to thank the people who support the most vulnerable through their commitment, solidarity and generosity.
Thank you and happy holidays!
