The consequences are dramatic: more than 200 people have lost their lives and many others are still missing. Infrastructure has been severely damaged, disrupting transportation and essential services.
The heavy rains began on October 28 and intensified over the following days. Beyond the confirmed deaths, search and rescue operations are still ongoing. The floods have closed more than 100 roads, complicating emergency interventions.
The Spanish Red Cross is at the forefront of the emergency response, deploying considerable resources to support the affected communities.
Teams have been mobilized in critical areas, providing shelter, food, hygiene kits, and other essential items with resources from other regions of the country.
The Red Cross has also disseminated information via social media to reduce misinformation and facilitate the work of emergency services.
To date, 1,530 Spanish Red Cross volunteers and staff are participating in the relief operations.
In just a few days, they have already distributed 66,623 food and water packages, 2,062 blankets, and 23,000 hygiene kits, supporting 3,550 people housed in 10 emergency centers.
These interventions have required 76 vehicles, including 8 ambulances, and 2 rescue boats have been deployed for operations in flooded areas.
The Luxembourg Red Cross calls for solidarity to support the victims. Your donations will provide essential aid and support ongoing relief efforts. Together, we can make a difference.
