Yesterday, the Luxembourg Red Cross International Aid was made a chevalier de l’ordre du mérite de la santé et de l’action sociale by the state of Burkina Faso.
This decoration underlines the long-standing cooperation between the Luxembourg Red Cross and the Burkinabe Red Cross, which started in 1961.
Over the years, Luxembourg Red Cross humanitarian teams have supported numerous projects in Burkina Faso, such as measles vaccination in the 1960s, famine response in the 1990s and support to refugees through access to water, sanitation and housing.
Today, the Luxembourg Red Cross continues to support the most vulnerable people in Burkina Faso in the fields of environment, education, protection and health.
All this would not have been possible without the support of partners such as the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Pharmaciens Sans Frontières and the City of Luxembourg.
A big thank you to them!
