World AIDS Day 2024: “Our health, our rights”

25 November 2024

On December 1, 2024 to mark World AIDS Day, our HIV Berodung service will focus on the essential right to health. Through prevention initiatives, our service aims to raise awareness among the general public and support people living with HIV.

Awareness-raising and screening at the heart of our action

It is estimated that in 2023, 39.9 million people worldwide were living with HIV, and that in the same year, 1.3 million people contracted the virus.

Prevention initiatives raise awareness of the disease, support options and the right to health, which is the theme defined by the World Health Organization for 2024.

World AIDS Day actions

Condom and red ribbon distributions on November 29

  • Luxembourg train station, 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
  • Pfaffenthal funicular, 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
  • Shopping Center Cloche d’Or, level 1 between the Ernster bookshop and Victorine from 11.30am to 2pm

Finally, distributions with information booths and a DIMPS screening will take place at Hamilius from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Gourmet and artistic solidarity

Solidarity also means original initiatives. In collaboration with Confiserie Namur, the Love Bretzel, a bretzel in the shape of a red ribbon, will be sold from November 29 to December 9, 2024 in our partner’s stores. For each purchase, part of the proceeds will support prevention initiatives.

On December 1, a special evening at the Rainbow Center will honor the winners of the “Preventive Art – Art on Condoms” art competition. On this occasion, the works of the participants, created around the theme “My Party, My Safety”, will be exhibited to raise awareness of the importance of protection in all situations, including festive occasions.

The service would like to thank the evening’s partners: CAP4LAB, POST Luxembourg, Piranha and the Rainbow Center, as well as Ms Yoko, who will be hosting the evening.
