Our humanitarian work cannot happen without you, our loyal donors, who help us change the lives of thousands of people every day. We are very grateful for your trust, because together, for so many years, we have enabled vulnerable women and children to have better living conditions and find hope. Thank you so much.
Without our volunteers, we would not be able to help. Whether in the field or in the support functions, we can count on many volunteers to support our activities such as emergency deployments (ERU), international humanitarian law activities, administrative activities or the Luxembourg Red Cross Bazaar. Thank you for your commitment.
Our main institutional partner is the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Without it, the Luxembourg Red Cross Humanitarian Aid would not have such an impact. The Ministry’s Directorate for Cooperation supports us in all our activities throughout the world.
For many years now, ECHO, the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Organisation, has supported the Luxembourg Red Cross in its humanitarian aid activities in Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad and Madagascar. Thanks to ECHO’s support, many lives of women and children have been saved in the past years.
Since 2020, the Humanitarian Aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross has been working hand in hand with LuxDev, Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation, to protect survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project supports in particular the Panzi Foundation and Dr. Mukwege’s general hospital. Other projects are being studied for the countries of the Sahel zone.
The Luxembourg Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development supports several international aid projects of the Luxembourg Red Cross, notably in Burundi and Burkina Faso.
Pharmacists without borders has been working for many years with the City of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Red Cross Humanitarian Aid in Burkina Faso. Thanks to this partnership, several municipalities around the capital Ouagadougou have been provided with access to drinking water, notably through the construction of several water towers.
For several years, foundations administered by the Fondation de Luxembourg have been supporting our humanitarian aid activities, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under the umbrella of the Fondation de Luxembourg, Fondation Pax Christi and Fondation Jos & Mimieke make actions in favour of women survivors of sexual violence possible by sending medical equipment, rehabilitating the General Referral Hospital in Panzi and building houses for women as part of their socio-economic reintegration process.
The City of Luxembourg has been supporting the humanitarian aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross in its activities in Burkina Faso for many years. Thanks to this partnership, several communes around Ouagadougou have been provided with access to water, notably through the construction of several water towers.
Several municipalities outside the capital support us in our humanitarian activities. Among them, Erpeldange or Differdange.
Several private companies support the Humanitarian Aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross in its projects. For example, Invictus Home finances the construction of a semi-sustainable house for each property sold.
All our humanitarian activities abroad are organized and carried out with the Red Cross or Red Crescent Society of the country in which we operate. This puts us in a privileged position to identify the needs of the most affected people and to provide effective assistance. Often, a dense network of local volunteers helps us with implementation and acts as a relay to perpetuate the impact of our work in the community. We also regularly partner with sister national societies including the French, Belgian, Monaco, Dutch and Finnish Red Cross for our humanitarian projects. In major crises, the Geneva-based International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies coordinates the response of its 192 member national societies. In situations of armed conflict, we work closely with the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross), which provides access and leadership in the field of security.
Many thanks to the Nigerian, Burkinabe, Malian, Malagasy, Chadian, Burundian, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nepalese and Ukrainian Red Cross national societies for the great cooperation.
